Davy Lau and Grace Lau co-founded DGL Group Inc in 2006 as their private direct investment company, focusing on businesses that help individuals, organisations and communities to achieve a sustainable, Delicious and Gracious Life.
To-date, companies they have invested in include Focus Media Network Ltd (achieved IPO in the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in 2011), Plastoform Ltd (listed on the Singapore Stock Exchange), Cima Nanotech (USA/Singapore), Tezzaron (USA/Singapore), Revatron ltd (Japan/USA), Nanoveu (Singapore), Uniq Apps (Singapore), Gooute (Japan/SE Asia), etc. The team of experienced partners and affiliates at DGL Group also provides business/corporate advisory and CEO/Leadership coaching services to selected portfolio companies and other public or private companies in the Asia Pacific region. Since August 2013, DGL Group has started a partnership with SIP Financial Group of Japan (http://sip-vc.com), in which the two companies will cross-invest in each others’ portfolio companies and nurture them into successful pan-Asia Pacific companies, including helping them to raise capital, assisting them in business expansion, corporate development, etc. as well as in providing coaching to their CEO and leadership teams.
Other than being a member of the Board of Governors at United World College South East Asia, Davy has been on various corporate and non-profit boards, including NASDAQ listed hiSoft Technology International and Make-A-Wish Foundation Singapore, where he was Chairman (2011-12) and is currently an advisory board member. He is also non-executive Chairman of eZoo School of Music and Fine Arts, SIP Financial Group, Gooute Pte Ltd, etc. In mid 2000’s, Davy co-founded Mustard Seed LLP, the first Business Angel Fund accredited by Economic Development Board Singapore and has been a member of advisory/resource panels of Private Equity and Buy-out funds such as Credence Partners (Singapore) and ACA (Japan).
Trilingual in Japanese, English and Chinese, Davy has significant track record building and running multinational businesses in the Asia Pacific, spanning across manufacturing, IT systems solutions and outsourcing, banking and real-time on-line information business as well as professional services with global organisations such as Citigroup, GTECH Corporation and Egon Zehnder International. Davy won the Hong Kong Government Scholarship, through which he completed his secondary/high school studies at Diocesan Boys’ School in Hong Kong and was a Japanese Mombusho (Japan Education Ministry) Scholar for his undergraduate and postgraduate studies in Japan. He has a bachelor’s degree from Tokyo University of Foreign Studies in 1979 and a master of economics degree from Hitotsubashi University in 1981. He worked and lived in Japan for more than 15 years and settled in Singapore since the early 1990’s.
Grace was previously the President of Ikebana International Singapore (2009 & 2010) and President of Lions Club Vanda (2008). She was a director at Voxy International Pte Ltd, a beauty and personal care company in Singapore. Since young, Grace has had a keen interest in anything and everything that embodies beauty. Growing up in Colonial Hong Kong, she had the opportunity to study flower arrangement, water color painting, calligraphy, porcelain painting as well as Japanese and Chinese cooking, which are still her life-long passions. In 2010, she led Ikebana International Singapore to win the “Japan Foreign Minister Award” for promoting Japanese culture in Singapore.
Both Davy and Grace are naturalised Singaporeans, born and raised in Hong Kong. They have 2 lovely daughters, Jacqueline and Jane, both studying in Britain.
